sorry i'm writing a day later! apparently monday was the day that buddah came so everyone gets the day off :) anyway, things are going well here! oh, and thanks mommy for sending me that stuff i need! you're the best! :D here's what's been up:
1. so for the buddah holiday, we a stake picnic yesterday and it was so much fun! we played games like who can throw their shoe into a box (sounds lame but it was so fun :P) and i got third place in the relief society category! so i won some 물티슈 which is kinda like baby wipes minus the smell and they are like kleenexes except way better when you need to clean up a mess. I LOVE THEM. they are such a great invention. anyway, there were other games and a huge picnic and sports going on on the fields and a man made waterfall turned on at certain times so it was nice and cool. it was the best picnic i've ever been on!
2. on thursday, we streeboarded and this grandpa came up to us and looked at sister hill and said "ok. you're american." and then looked at me and yelled "ok. you're korean so you'll understand what i'm saying." and then he went off for 10 minutes quoting scriptures and saying, "judgement will be scary!! you need to know what you are believing because what you're doing is useless. you know why? jesus has already come and he is preaching right now. and you don't even know that. and the 12 tribes have already gathered and there are ten thousand of us and you need to join. or else judgement will be scary for you!!!!" i tried to be patient and smiled and tried to say goodbye but he kept going. so even though i understood everything he was saying, i had to tell him "sorry, i'm a 교포 so i don't understand what you're saying" and smiled and he told me that it's okay and just mouthed really big (so that i'd understand) that i need to come to his church. he was intense!! but whether he intended it to be super
intense or not, i guess looking back that's nice of him that he took the time to tell me those things because he wanted me to be saved. we are soooo blessed that we have the fulness of the gospel! :) oh and while i was talking to this grandpa, we noticed a girl who kept staring at us out of curiosity regardless of the fact that there was an old grandpa yelling at us and quoting scriptures. so while i held down the fort in talking to this grandpa, sis hill started talking to the girl and got an appointment with her! yeeee!
3. miracle of the week: so on thursday, we had a dinner appointment at 7 30 with a lady in our ward who lives a little ways away from where we live and usually proselyte. so we decided to go a little bit earlier and then 전도 around that area. but our lesson we had scheduled before that got cancelled :( so we had a lot more time than we thought we would to go 전도 there. we got there and we were just so tired after a while! but we stuck with it and we talked to the lady in our ward and she said we could come earlier. so when it was like 6:55 we were like "ok, let's just head over there now!" cuz we were just tired i guess. but we decided to just do a few minutes more til like 7 just so we weren't too early to the dinner. AND GUESS WHAT? A RANDOM MAN CAME UP TO US AND HE STARTED SPEAKING ENGLISH TO US AND SAID HE WAS INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT OUR CHURCH! if there's one thing i've learned, it's that miracles happen when you push yourself to do the things you don't want to do most and talk to the people who you don't want to talk to the most. those last few minutes were totally worth the miracle!!! so we made an appointment with him and we were so excited!!!! that tiredness just dissappeared cuz we were soooo amazed at what just happened. so we were about to leave and the man came back and gave us drinks saying thanks for serving here in korea. REALLY? WOW. yay for miracles. seriously.
4. thought for the day: i read in preach my gospel that faith in action is repentance. and repentance is change. i guess i never really thought about it like that. but i'm learning every day that as we exercise faith and put it into action by repenting--changing--we can't help but become better. and more Christ-like :)
5. love you all!

ps. i'll send pictures of our picnic next week! :)

week 31:
dear my favorite people,
wow the weeks go by so fast :P sister hill and i are doing great, and it's getting really hot so we've discovered some really cool ice cream flavors and places where we can get them for so cheap :D
this past week, we had a really cool thing happen. so on monday night, as we were planning, we had a feeling to go visit this less active woman who hadn't been able to come to church for a while because her husband doesn't like the church. but we didn't have time because we wanted to go visit another lady. so we put her as our back up visit and kind of forgot about her because we didn't end up needing to rely on the back up. we meant to transfer her name to the next day's page in our planner so we would remember to visit her but we forgot :P so her name just got lost in our planner when we flipped to the next day's page. sad huh? but it's a happy ending so don't worry :)
so on wednesday, we had a great district meeting where we learned to personalize the atonement. and then after we street boarded together as a district, sis hill and i had planned to go visit some members and less actives. but the two people we had planned just fell through because they were out and about. so we looked at the members we had decided to visit as our back ups to figure out where to go. and it was the weirdest feeling; none of them seemed right to go visit at that time. so we were confused as to what we were supposed to do. but then the less active lady's name (that got lost in our planners) popped into our heads. and it felt right. so we went to visit her.
we got there and she opened the door and she was super surprised. she told us that she had actually moved to a place about 3 hours from here because her son is studying music and that's where the music school is. so she said that she only drops by this house in 금천 (that we were visitng) every once in a while and even then it's usually on the weekends. so she asked us how we knew she was there and we said we had no idea! she said that it was crazy that we came right at that time because she was just waiting to meet up with her son to eat dinner together and they going to leave for her other house shortly after (the one that's 3 hours away). WOW. isn't that awesome?! so we talked and she said that she had been meaning to meet with us and wanted to get to know us and show us her baptism pictures! oh she is the sweetest lady!! :D so we're going to meet her soon!
I hope our visit with that lady made her happy and brought light to her busy life; but what i do know for sure is that sis hill and i were real happy :) we are having a hard time finding new investigators these days so that was a boost of energy/tender mercy that we needed right then to not get discouraged and keep going :D in alma 17, the Lord comforts the sons of Mosiah and gives them strength and that extra boost so they can have the courage to go teach the Lamanites. verse 10 says "and it came to pass that the Lord did visit them with his Spirit, and said unto them: be comforted. and they were comforted." heavenly father really does love us. because he gives us exactly what we need to keep going :)
anyway, have a great week, cuz i'm going to.
read. pray. go to church.
love you :)

week 30: happy mother's day!
i know i just got off the phone with you but i feel like it went by all too fast!! so here are just a few things that happened this past week that i didn't tell you on the phone :)
1. so hugest miracle ever, ready?! (details added for leash :P) so a few weeks ago, during nightly planning, sis Hill and i were thinking of people to visit the next day and thought of this less active lady who lives a little bit away from us in 관악 and she doesn't really like us coming over when her husband is there or when her kids are there because the husband doesn't want to go back to church and the kids don't have interest in going to church. so we figured we could call and see if she had just a few minutes for us to drop off a message card that we made. so we called and at first she was like "well, i don't have any time sorry." and then we said we just wanted to see her for like 10 minutes to drop off a card we made her. so then she said "well, you can come in the morning then cuz that's when my family's gone." but that's when we have studies and we could have gotten permission to go if we wanted to but i felt like we should try to suggest another time. i was expecting her to just say that she didn't have any other time but i felt like i should ask anyway. and guess what! she said she had a few minutes at 3 pm! so we went to go visit her and we had a ton of travel complications because the subway wouldn't come and then we got off at the wrong station and then we didn't know if the bus would be faster than trying to get back on the subway and it was like 2:55! but sis hill felt like the bus would be faster so we went with that instinct and she was right!!! we got there at 3:05 and the lady was sending her daughter to 학원 RIGHT THEN! like the little girl was literally getting her bag and putting on her shoes! the lady was a little hesitant in having the daughter meet with us because she's super shy. but we were able to say hi to the daughter and i had a chocolate bar in my backpack so i gave that to her and she left. we met her for all of 5 minutes. BUT GUESS WHAT?!!! this past tuesday, we got a phone call from the lady--which in itself is a miracle that she's going out of her way to talk to missionaries!-- and she said "well, after you sisters left, my daughter asked me if those missionaries are ever going to come back! so i was wondering if you sisters had time to come and see my daughter!" she sounded so excited on the phone because her daughter is usually really shy so she herself was surprised that the daughter wanted to see us again! OKAY PAUSE. let's think about how awesome this is. we saw her for all of 5 minutes. but you know what can work miracles in 5 minutes? nope you're wrong, it wasn't the chocolate, people! (though i do love chocolate :) THE SPIRIT! THE SPIRIT CAN WORK MIRACLES IN 5 MINUTES! cool yeah? :) so we met her and she was excited and laughing and didn't want to go to 학원! we shared our message about all of us being daughters of God, and when the time came for her to go, she pulled out another game and wanted to play with us! her mom was surprised too! so we told her we can play next time and her mom said that was okay. YAY FOR NEXT TIMES!!!! YAY FOR RETURN APPOINTMENTS!!! YAY FOR THE SPIRIT. :D she has a cold this week but her mom says hopefully she can get better andwe can meet again this week :)
2. everytime i 전도, i am always reminded of president uchtdorf's stop judging talk from conference cuz there are times when i look at people and i say "well, that person looks like they are well off and they wouldn't listen." and there are people who LOOK mean and LOOK like they wouldn't want to take our cards. but everytime that happens, i go out of my way to talk to THOSE SPECIFIC PEOPLE that i have those thoughts about. because that's just the adversary doing his thing. and sometimes they are mean and sometimes they don't take our cards. but SOMETIMES THEY ARE SO NICE AND THEY DO TAKE OUR CARDS. there was this lady/ 아줌마 who looked like she was ignoring us and was trying to look busy on her phone and then we talked to her and turns out she lived next to our church a while back and genuinely started asking questions like if we're christian, what time church is, and if we go to church on saturdays too! then her bus came but she pulled out her phone and ASKED FOR OUR NUMBER! AND GAVE US HERS TOO! and the best part is that as she was getting on the bus she yelled "I GET TEXTS TOO SO YOU CAN TEXT ME WHENEVER! BYE! :D" i love 전도ing :)
3. i'm doing great and i love being a missionary. because there is this awesome spirit about missionary work! and YOU CAN HAVE IT TOO! because you can do missionary work :) there are people being prepared by the Lord to hear from you. when Alma and Amulek first encountered Zeezrom, Zeezrom really didn't have any interest in the church (alma 11). but the Lord prepared him to receive the truth and later, Alma and Amulek were able to teach him and baptize him yay! (alma 15) there are people around you being prepared! i hope and pray you and I will have the courage to open our mouths and introduce the beautiful gospel to everyone! worst case senario is that they say "no i don't want your mormon book" right? and even then, at least they'll know how important the book is to you for you to even offer it to them :) it's a win win situation. because you always win if you're on God's side :)
4. congrats jee!! i'm so happy for you!!!! the ring is beautiful!!!!! and congrats minhee on all A's all throughout middle school and on being a lanturn festival princess! you're the best!
5. and ps. i have a tan on my feet. not as bad as yours jee from jerusalem but still bad! and it's only may :P but i love this work. and i love korea. and i love you all! have a great week!

week 29: Happy summer everyone :)
so this week has gone by way too fast! here are just a few highlights :)
1. so the saddest thing everrr happened this week: our investigator from vietnam has her life controlled by her korean in laws and once she told them that she was learning english from missionaries of our church, they stopped her from coming! it was sad cuz i called to remind her about our appointment and this lady who did not sound like her pretended to be her and said she can't meet any more. and when i asked if it was her she said "uh.. no. but i'm family. and she can't meet with you anymore because... she doesn't have time." so sister hill and i ate some milk and chocolate chip cookies that our office couple missionaries brought us (for cleaning checks) and then erased her name from our board! but it's okay, cuz she at least knows of our church now :)
2. it was children's day (and 이모's birthday too! happy birthday 이모! ^^) so literally everyone was gone doing fun things on saturday! so our english class had like no one there but a new kid came so it was kind of awkward because there was like no one else there :/ but hopefully he thinks about it positively and says to himself, "wow, there are so many teachers all here to help ME!" :P hopefully he comes next week! if there's one thing i've learned so far, it's that awkward is the new awesome. it's only awkward if you make it awkward. okay. well maybe 전도ing to a lady in a public park who has a dog with braided and orange-dyed hair (costed 40 dollars to do the dog's hair apparently...) and who starts singing an old korean song to us because she used to be a lead singer in a gospel choir--maybe that's a tad bit awkward. bahaha ;)
3. thought for the week: the formula for being happy is outlined in mosiah 12:9-12 which i think applies to everyone because EVERYONE wants to be happy! king benjamin talks about how we need to do these three things to be happy: have faith in God, repent (or in other words change anything that is not Christlike!), and be humble (so that we can endure to the end!)! it's so cool that the message has been the same FOREVER. cuz God is consistent :)
4. Love you all!

week 28: hello everyone!
so i don't have much time this week because we're going to go to 경복궁 (sp?) after cuz it's such a beautiful day! but i just wanted to say hi in a few bullet points:
1. so last week, we had our second lesson with a new investigator we contacted a few weeks ago by phone and we have done 2 out of the 4 lessons with her already! she's really sweet and she's super cute and seems to understand things real well but we're kind of nervous because she doesn't have any questions on anything and she's progressing so fast! i guess that's a good thing though :P we're hoping to set a baptismal date for her so hopefully that'll go well this week :)
2. we had one of our investigators leave to her home country yesterday! she's the one from kirikistan (sp?) and she's going to be gone for 3 months for vacation so we might not be able to see her when she gets back if one or both of us get transferred then! we both want to stay and see her when she gets back because she's already been to church 2 times and she is receiving the gospel well! we're gonna pray that she doesn't forget anything! we made that funfettie cake that you got me jee for her as a good bye surprise and she was so happy. she said that she is so grateful to have met us :D she had a hard time believing that someone would take time to meet with her and develop a friendship with her because she and her husband don't have a great relationship and because she's from another country, sometimes korean people look down on her. but we promised her the gospel would help her be happier so hopefully she continues to seek after it after she gets back or while she's there! (we don't know if the church is even there! :P)
3. we had ward conference in the first ward this past weekend and we had a fun ward activity on saturday to get ward members to get to know each other more before ward conference. the missionaries were in charge of the activity and so we played volleyball but with different utensils found in our apartment! like a rice paddle, a ruler, a ladle and a chopstick! it was really fun! before the activity, the men in the ward all cooked things in the parking lot and everyone got to eat things like french toast (minus the syrup cuz apparently they don't do that here. so basically egg dipped bread. but it was interestingly really good!!) fried rice, dumplings and stuff! man i love this ward :)
4. ps it's getting so hot now. the weather of korea i guess decided that korea doesn't need spring. so it just skipped to summer. so now i get sweaty and gross. and i hear it'll get worse! lol it changed so fast! but yes, grandmas still think it's the end of winter so they still wear their coats and scarves around. welcome to korea? :P
5. i know this church is true. and no matter what happens, who says what to you, where you're stranded in whatever stage of life you're in, it doesn't matter as long as you know that God loves you. and you're a part of the one true church.
6. love you all :)

5. i know this church is true. and no matter what happens, who says what to you, where you're stranded in whatever stage of life you're in, it doesn't matter as long as you know that God loves you. and you're a part of the one true church.
6. love you all :)

week 27: hello :)
hiiii! i hope everything is going well :) i had another great week!
so for last Pday, we went to 여의도 and a group of missionaries all rode bikes along 한강 and it was so funnn! and the trees and flowers were all so pretty.
on tuesday during companionship study, sister Hill and i wanted to try and figure out a place where we could go to 전도 and we weren't getting any specific ideas. we decided to ask someone who has all the answers. so we prayed. and we followed a process of prayer that sister Hill's old zone leaders followed and found lots of success in receiving revelation on where to go. first we picked out 10 places in our area that we could go to. Then we each individually prayed to repent of everything and anything that might be blocking us from receiving revelation and then asked for inspiration. we then each picked out 5 places out of the 10 and wrote them down on a piece of paper. then we saw which areas we both wrote down. we had 2 places that we both wrote down so we prayed again. and then we had this feeling that we should go to this one random park in the ghettos of this area. so we did.
when we got there, the park was dead. there were 3 grandmas on a bench and 5 grandpas smoking in a circles around another bench. so we both kind of were surprised as to why we were there cuz there was no one else there! and usually there are tons of people at parks especially with the really nice weather! so we talked to the people that were there but none of them were interested. then we looked at each other wondering what we should do next. we were about to leave when we saw another woman come by and so we talked to her for a few minutes but she wasn't interested. BUT THEN this lady came up to us and said hi. and we turned around and it was the ex Jehovah's Witness lady who we were teaching but then her schedule got busy so she stopped meeting with us! We had been trying to meet her for the past month but couldn't but lo and behold, here she was, in this random little park which was in the really poor and non-modern part of our area which was NO WHERE near where she was living. she told us that she GOT OFF AT THE WRONG BUS STOP so she had to cut through the park where coincidentally we were prompted to go. WEIRDDDDDDD HUH? ok not weird. more like AWESOMEEEE!
she told us that she's still busy so we won't be able to meet this month so we don't know exactly why we ran into her there that day. but maybe she needed to see us for some reason. yay for tender mercies :) anyway, so that was really cool!
on Friday, we were able to meet a new investigator through another investigator's referral and she is vietnamese! she's 20 and she's gorgeous and she's married to a korean man and she's been in korea for about 1 year and 3 months and her korean is really good for how long she's been here! she wants to do the 30 minutes of english and 30 minutes of gospel study so we did that on friday. it was really good but i relied so so so much more on the Spirit than i ever have before to teach her because she knows nothing about God. so it was really really difficult trying to teach her especially because she didn't know korean religious words. we tried to teach her about how God is the father of our spirits and she didn't know what spirits are! it was just very new for me to think that some people don't know God cuz most korean people believe in some sort of a God or higher power. but you know what? it was so cool because she said that she believes everything we told her. she was so humble and didn't doubt anything we
said and she even said she could see how the Book of Mormon could be true! wow. she is so so so teachable. it's going to be tricky trying to explain everything to her in terms that she'll understand but it'll be so fun and so worth it! oh and yes, she eventually got the idea of the spirit and body when i drew a picture of a snail on the board and
said that the shell is like our bodies and the snail is like our spirits. but it took lots of body language and universal sound effects cuz she didn't know the korean word for snail and my art skills didn't quite cut it bahaha but she got it lol :D
anyway, things are going soooo well here! i love being a missionary! miracles do happen. i think i might have shared this already but i loved elder evan's conference talk where he said something to the effect of "never delay a prompting. miracles will happen. lives will be changed." love you all :)
